Gayle Hutchinson

Violist Gayle Hutchinson was born in Co. Durham in 1976. She studied Music at Newcastle University, specialising in Performance and Composition and was taught by Bradley Creswick, leader of Northern Sinfonia. She graduated with a BA (Hons) Music in 1996 and formed Aurora Strings, which has become one of the most renowned string quartets in the North of England.

Gayle performs regularly with the quartet all over the North of England, giving concerts, recording with artists such as Beccy Owen and Gary Hilton and providing music for all types of private and public events.

She also teaches violin and viola to all ages and records with artists such as Smoove and Turrell (Beggar Man album, 2009), Detroit Social Club, Mercury Music Award nominee Kathryn Williams with whom she performed at a sell out concert at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London. Gayle has recently recorded with Smoove and Turrell for their new album, Eccentric Audio due out soon and Kathryn Williams’ collaboration, The Crayonettes – Playing Out recently released album.
